The Here We Grow Again consignment sale in North Kansas City is growing and quickly becoming one of the best organized sales in the area. This is the second year of the sale under the current management. They have around 100 consignors this year. Inside of their temporary store, they have many new and gently used items for sale. What is a consignment sale? A consignment sale is not a garage sale or a thrift store. Consignors price and tag items they wish to sell. The items have to be in good working condition and approved by the sale managers before they are put into the sale. They bring the items to the sale sight where they are categorized, organized, and displayed. They have everything from clothes and toys to highchairs and room décor.

They take credit, debit, and cash. They do NOT take checks or American Express.

Sizing

The majority of items are for ages newborn to juniors. However, each season’s sale will differ depending on what consignors bring in. The majority of items are for kids ages newborn to 12 years. This sale does have juniors up to size 16, some maternity clothing and a small selection of adult sizes.

Sale Items

Here We Grow Again – Northland has various items for sale. They include: clothes, toys, strollers, car seats, safety equipment, baby carriers, pack-n-plays, etc. At this sale, they have a larger amount of girl’s clothes than boy’s clothes – which can be typical for a consignment sale. Some boy’s sizes have a larger selection than others. The sale is well organized and well-marked.

This year, the sale is color-coded to help shoppers locate gender-specific items. The pink, blue, and green floor coverings beneath the racks and tables will help you figure out where gender-specific items are located and save you precious time when searching through the great deals! It also adds to the organization and color of the sale. This sale is newer to the area and growing quickly. It is not as large as some of the more established sales around town, but you will still find many great items!

Here We Grow Again inspects all items that are brought in to be sold. The items must be clean and in good condition before they are put on the shelf. Many of the items have only been used a few times before a child grew out of it. Some items still include the original packaging and instructions. Here We Grow Again – Northland is very selective about the condition of the items –  many items look like they have never been used!

We suggest expectant moms shop at, at least, one consignment sale before they buy new items. We know there are certain things you want to be new. However, check out the sales for toys and other newborn items. You will be amazed at the quality and condition of the products.

Need to Know Before You Go:

We suggest you go on one of the first-sale days if you need a specific item or have a list of “must haves”. It is first-come-first-serve. There are, usually, multiples of toys and books, but the hot items move fast. Seasoned consignment shoppers arrive early because they know they will find quality items at great prices. The lines will be long – especially on opening and closing days. Be prepared to wait in line. Bring a book or something to entertain yourself while you wait.

Before you leave the house, take stock of what you need. It is very easy to become overwhelmed. Check shoe sizes and make a list of clothing items you will need for this season and the next. Also, think about the toys your child needs and will be growing into. They have toys for all ages. Stock up on toys your child will be using in a few months or years.

At the sale, be sure to check items larger than the sizes you need. Since some of the clothes that are gently used have been washed and may run small.

Insider Tips

  • If possible, leave your children at home. The sale can be overwhelming and has toys. They might be tempted to play with all of them! If you have to bring them, load up on snacks and toys to keep them occupied.
  • Bring bags, laundry baskets, or a cart to hold all of  the items you find. The sale has bags for shoppers to use, but they might run out on the busier days. They do not have shopping carts. Some moms bring empty strollers to haul their finds.
  • Come early – you will have the best selection.
  • Make a list of what you need – that way you will get all the things you need and other great finds you never knew you wanted!
  • Go back to the sale on different days. You might have missed something you need and take advantage of the sales.
