The Rhea Lana consignment sale in Prairie Village is one of the newest, fastest growing consignment sales in the area.  This is the third sale since they started their upscale consignment business. They offer brand-name and designer kids clothes, maternity wear, toys, room décor, and much more. Inside of their temporary store, they have over 25,000 new and gently used items for sale. What is a consignment sale? A consignment sale is not a garage sale or a thrift store. Consigners price and tag items they wish to sell. They bring the items to the sale sight where they are categorized, organized, and displayed. They have everything from clothes and toys to highchairs and room décor.

Overall we love Rhea Lana because

  • They make consignment shopping well-organized, colorful, and fun
  • You will find great deals on items for your kids
  • It is one-stop-shopping
  • Environmentally friendly – you are giving a new life to items

Hours

The sale runs from March 27th thru March 31st

  • Tuesday  and Wednesday: 9am to 8pm
  • Thursday: 9am to 4:30pm
  • Friday: 9am to 8pm. Select items are 50% off
  • Saturday: 9am to 2pm. Select items are 50% off

Pricing

Items are priced by each individual consigner, so prices vary. The usual “rule of thumb” is that items are priced 25% to 35% of retail, but will fluctuate depending on the condition and demand for the item. Many of the items they have for sale this year are designer brands or labels, including maternity clothes. For example, designer maternity jeans for $40 or a Coach diaper bag for $50. These items are priced a bit higher than other brands, but are a steal compared to retail!

They take credit, debit, cash and checks. They do NOT accept American Express.

Sizing

The majority of items are for sizes newborn to size 20. However, each season’s sale will differ depending on what consigners bring in.

Sale and Sale Items

Rhea Lana is rapidly growing and the inventory is increasing every sale.  Sale items include: girls and boys clothes, toys, strollers, swings, bouncy seats, safety equipment, breast pumps, baby carriers, riding toys, outdoor toys, etc. They also sell new Melissa & Doug puzzles, books, and games.

The sale is located in the former Macy’s Home Store space in the Prairie Village Shopping Center – next to Einstein Bros. Bagels. It is a large space, but it has filled up quickly. The front of the store has clothes and strollers with back housing most of the toys, riding toys, room décor, and furniture.

The sale organizers to a fantastic job of bagging matching pairs of shoes and joining “like” items.  They have well-marked bins dedicated to shoes and socks. This sale, as most, has more girls clothes then boy clothes. That is to be expected. Don’t worry – you will find great items for boys, too.

All items sold at Rhea Lana sales are to be clean and in good condition before they are sold. Many of the items have only been used a few times before a child grew out it. Some items still include the original packaging and instructions. Some consigners will include information on each item that specifies the product and the original retail price. You can tell what a deal you are getting!

We suggest expectant moms shop at, at least, one consignment sale before they buy new items. We know there are certain items you want to be new. However, check out the sales for toys and other newborn items. You will be amazed at the quality and condition of the items. At Rhea Lana, you will also have an extensive collection of maternity clothes to choose from.

Need to Know Before You Go:

We suggest you go on one of the first-sale days if you need a specific item or have a list of “must haves”. It is first-come-first-serve. There are, usually, multiples of toys and books, but the hot items move fast. Seasoned consignment shoppers arrive early because they know they will find quality items at great prices. The lines can be long and the store will be crowded. Be prepared to wait in line. Rhea Lana has multiple checkout lanes, but there might still be a wait. That is to be expected with the amount of shoppers. Bring a book or something to entertain yourself while you wait.

Before you leave the house, take stock of what you need. It is very easy to become overwhelmed at the amount of stuff and people at the sale. Check shoe sizes and make a list of clothing items you will need for this season and the next. Also, think about the toys your child needs and will be growing into. They have toys for all ages. Stock up on toys your child will be using in a few months or years.

At the sale, be sure to check items larger than the sizes you need. Since some of the clothes are gently used, they have been washed and may run small.

Donations

Some items are marked for donation after the sale is over. Rhea Lana has partnered with Operation Breakthrough to donate items. They also organized a wipe drive at the pre-sale events to provide new moms and dads with baby wipes for their little ones.

Insider Tips

  • If possible, leave your children at home. The sale can be overwhelming and has exciting toys. They might be tempted to play with all of them!  If you have to bring them, load up on snacks and toys to keep them occupied. Also, bring a smaller stroller – there is not much room to maneuver a large one.
  • Bring bags or laundry baskets to hold all of the items you find. The sale does have a limited amount of tubs for shoppers to use while they are in the store, but you’ll want something to take your finds home in! Some moms bring empty strollers to haul their purchases.
  • Come early – it will be crowded, but you will have the best selection.
  • Make a list of what you need – that way you will get all the things you need and other great finds you never knew you wanted!
  • Come back on another day. You might see something you missed! Also, you will get great deals on the last 2 days of the sale.
