Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant is a train-themed diner-style restaurant. It is a fantastic place to take your family. The food is ok and it can get expensive – you definitely go for the atmosphere. Model trains run throughout the restaurant and your food is actually delivered by a train. The service is fast, the kids stay entertained, and you will actually have a chance to eat your meal without having to chase kids around the restaurant. It can get very busy during peak lunch and dinner times.
Overall we like Fritz’s Train Restaurant because:
- Very family friendly with fast service
- Entertaining atmosphere for families
- The restaurant is basically self-service, so you do not have to wait on a sever to order or get your food
Kid Friendly Menu:
When you are seated, kids get a train hat so they can play conductor. They have a kids menu with different meal options. We recommend sticking with burgers. The chicken nuggets are processed and previously frozen. The hotdogs are cut down the center and placed on hamburger buns. So, if your kids only eat “traditional” hotdogs – beware! The meals include:
- French fries
- Drink (soda, apple juice, or milk)
- Cost: between $4.99
To save money, we recommend ordering off of the regular menu. The regular size fries are more than enough to share between 2 people and the burgers are not too big for kids.
Regular Menu:
The regular menu also has a varied selection of diner-style food. They specialize in burgers, but also offer sandwiches, hotdogs, chili, and salads. One of the favorites is the Gen-Dare Hamburger. It has grilled onions, melted cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickles and hash browns! However, the salad is not very fresh and, again, the hotdogs are cut and placed on a hotdog bun. They also offer breakfast starting at 7:30am. The menu includes eggs, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, and other specialties. The food can get pricey.
Price:
- Sandwiches and burgers range from $2.29 – $5.00
- Sides range from $1.99 – $4.49
- Salads range from $3.99 – $6.49
Insider tips:
- Specials: They offer ½ price drinks and shakes from 2:00-4:00pm Sunday thru Thursday. Burgers are ½ off after 2pm on Tuesday.
- Skip the kid’s desserts and head to Sheridan’s Frozen Custard across the parking lot. The custard is yummy, but very filling. You could definitely share a regular concrete.
- We aware of busy times – it can get very crowded.
- The restaurant is set up like an old diner – booths only. So, if you have a large party you might have to sit a multiple booths.
