Frontier Park is a great park for all ages in Olathe, KS. Depending on the day, it can be very busy. It has a few large areas to run, 1 soccer field, 2 softball fields, half-basketball court, trail , play equipment, swings, 2 covered shelters, ample parking, and a port-a-potty in the parking lot. This is always a favorite in our family because of the Pirate Ship theme.
Play Equipment
The main piece of play equipment looks like a giant Pirate Ship that sits on a cushioned floor. It is wonderful for imaginative play. It includes:
- 2 slides
- Zip line for the older kids (watch that the little ones don’t get knocked over by the older ones flying by)
- large plastic glove
- Ship steering wheel
- port holes to crawl through
In a slightly separate area
- 2 large swings
- 2 toddler swings
Trail
The trail is great for biking, walking or running. It is part of the Indian Creek Trail. Great way to burn off extra energy by having your kids bring their scooters, bikes and trikes and go for a short walk.
Covered Shelters-first come-first serve basis
- 2 shelters
- 1 water fountain
- multiple tables
- BBQ grills
Insider tips:
- Very crowded on days school is out.
- Feel free to bring bikes for the trail.
- Wonderful in the morning on weekdays
- Crowded even in the evenings during soccer season because of practices on the field.
- Play equipment isn’t too far from the parking lot so keep a close on on roamers.
